ff gateway (4 weights)
(ff gateway-a1, ff gateway-a2, ff gateway-b1, ff gateway-b2) (available at fontshop)
designed by stephan mueller, 1996

the gateway fonts are based on the flight information systems at the international airports of berlin tegel (formerly west germany) ( › gateway a1/a2) and berlin schoenefeld (formerly east germany) ( › gateway b1/b2). the demands of mobility and speed shaped these rather primitive grid systems which serve as base for the two typefaces. both fonts are available in two versions: one for the use at relatively small sizes (we recommend it for use up to 24 point), showing the grid more prominently, and one for use at larger sizes.
